FIRST FRIDAY CLUB MISSION NEXT LUNCHEON
The mission of the First Friday Club of Chicago is to provide a forum for men and women to make a connection between work, faith, values and issues that affect our daily lives.

In 1985, Fr. John Cusick, Chaplain, returned from speaking to the First Friday Club of Cleveland and said "we can do that." Since June of 1986, members and guests of the First Friday Club of Chicago meet at the Union League Club the first Friday of every month from October through May.

We have been fortunate to hear from some of the finest speakers; men and women who share with us the moral dilemmas and social obligations transcending their work and involvement in business, education, government, media, neighborhood life as well as many other areas.

Greetings!

On October 2nd the First Friday Club begins its 23rd year. Thanks to all of you who continue to support the club. Once again we will be offering you a season of inspiring and thought provoking issues and speakers, as well as good food and fellowship. Plese join us on the first Friday of each month from October through May at The Union League Club. As always, we begin at noon and make every effort to conclude by 1:15.

Since that first season in 1986, the mission of the First Friday Club remains the same: to make connections between our work, our faith and the important issues of the day. And this season's speakers will adhere to our mission.

What's one of the most important issues facing our country? If you believe it is health care, you'll want to hear the thoughts of our October kick off luncheon speaker, Dr. Catherine DeAngelis, M. D. editor-in-chief of Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). If the economy has you concerned about your retirement, you won't want to miss our April luncheon speaker, Mary Josephs, a nationally known expert on ESOPS. And if you're still concerned by the government "bailout" of private companies, I urge you to hear from our own Steve Grabek in January, who will share his personal journey as an executive from AIG's insurance operations. We are delighted that two of this year's speakers will help us focus on the spiritual dimension of our lives, Rabbi Evan Moffic in December and Fr. Robert Barron May, 2010.
